Only 60 Days Until Reval 2023 Northern Ireland

In 60 days, the new 2023 Valuation List will come into effect, and many ratepayers will undoubtedly see an increase in their annual rates bill as a result of Reval 2023.

Any challenge on the rateable value of a property in the current 2020 list must be lodged with Land and Property Services (LPS) by 31 March, otherwise there will be no further opportunity to secure refunds back to 1 April 2020.

Ratepayers have a short window of opportunity to ask LPS to review the proposed 2023 rateable values published on 11 January before the list goes live on 1 April.

Business rates are a significant burden, and we encourage all ratepayers to check their rateable value for accuracy and fairness. Reval 2023 was conducted based only on rental information at the antecedent valuation date (AVD) of 1 October 2021. We, therefore, encourage ratepayers to also consider any physical changes to their property, how it is used, its location, and how it compares to other similar properties.
